The bar is rising for the expectations of Longview ISD students, but so are the salaries for the teachers and staff. The decision to set the new minimum salary for teachers at $55,000 was previously approved. Now, the Board of Trustees approved a new compensation plan for the 2025-2026 school year, where hourly staff will be receiving a three percent increase and administration professionals will receive a two percent increase. Additionally, librarians and registered nurses will gain an extra $1,500 to their pay. The total investment back into Longview ISD staff is $714,259.46.
Last month, the district adopted a new pay structure, offering tiered, experience-based raises.
$1,500 for new teachers
$1,535 for second-year teachers
$2,500 for teachers with 3-4 years of experience
$5,000 for teachers with 5+ years of experience
In addition, supplemental stipends of $1,000 for master’s degree holders and $1,500 for doctorate degree holders. The top salary range for teachers is more than $100,000.
Chief of Human Resources Officer Shalona McCray expressed, “We are excited to go into the year able to give everyone a raise. These targeted increases, layered on across all roles, reflect our commitment to fairness and to honoring the work happening in classrooms, libraries, nurses' offices, and every support role.”
The board’s decision is not only a good step in making Longview ISD a more attractive workplace, but it is a direct investment in the success of its students. By retaining experienced and highly qualified teachers, the district aims to provide consistent, high-quality education for students of all ages. This plan aligns with the district’s dual aim of staying competitive in recruiting and retaining top talent. Longview ISD’s goal is to prioritize making staff feel valued, which in turn will create students who will enjoy learning.
