At Longview ISD, the Lobo spirit shines both on the field and in the classroom. Athletics bring pride, tradition, and teamwork that run deep in East Texas. However, while the big wins are celebrated, the greatest victories occur in the classroom—where knowledge, skills, and career pathways prepare students for a lifetime of success.
The upcoming Multi-Purpose Facility, funded through the voter-approved bond, is designed to be more than a sports venue. It is a place where academics and athletics work together to shape the future of every student.
From the Kitchen to the Banquet Hall
The upgraded Culinary Arts facility will allow students to cook, create, and cater in ways they never have before. Their talents will be showcased in a state-of-the-art banquet hall, a space that will serve both student events and community gatherings. Students will prepare gourmet meals for school banquets, fundraisers, and public events, providing real-world training that nurtures both minds and hearts.
Growth in the Greenhouse
A new greenhouse will provide fresh fruits and vegetables that directly support the culinary program. Students will gain experience in growing, harvesting, and integrating sustainable practices into meal preparation. Partnerships with local farmers, such as community supporter Mr. McCurry, will allow students to embrace farm-to-table dining—Lobo-style.
A Store with Spirit
The new Lobo Store will feature the latest merchandise, including items with the district’s signature rocking L. More than just a shop, the store will serve as a hub for community spirit and student-driven enterprise.
Banking on the Future
One of the most unique features of this project is the addition of an on-site bank—the first of its kind within Longview ISD. This innovative space will give students hands-on experience in financial services, teaching skills in customer service, banking operations, and money management. The goal is to prepare students for careers in one of the world’s most essential industries—all without leaving campus.A Vision Built Together
Superintendent Dr. Marla Sheppard emphasized the importance of balancing academics with athletics in this expansion:
“Our student-athletes make us proud, but our commitment goes beyond the scoreboard. This facility reflects how academics, career training, and athletics can work together to create opportunities that prepare every student for success.”
The Multi-Purpose Facility is one of many projects funded by the community’s support of the 2024 bond initiative. By voting in favor of the bond, families across Longview helped make these dreams possible. This achievement demonstrates the power of collaboration for students, schools, and the future.
At Longview ISD, it is not just about winning games—it is about winning futures.
