LIFT Bonuses

At the Monday night regular board meeting, trustees approved updates to the Longview Incentive for Teachers (LIFT) program, which provides locally funded rewards for educators and administrators whose work produces measurable student achievement.

Under the revised model, principals will now receive $1,500 per academic distinction earned by their campus. Associate and assistant principals, academic deans, International Baccalaureate coordinators, and deans of instruction will receive $750 per distinction. Central administrators are eligible for awards based on the district's overall distinction average.

To recognize some of the most challenging work, the plan also introduces a targeted award for teachers of high-stakes End-of-Course re-testers. Teachers will receive $200 for each student who passes while enrolled in the designated intervention class.

Chief Human Resources Officer Ms. Shalona McCray said the revisions are designed to sharpen fairness and transparency.

"These adjustments close gaps in the original model and ensure that the hardest work is acknowledged," she said. "We want every staff member to know that exceptional results will be rewarded."

Superintendent Dr. Marla Sheppard framed the program as an investment in people.

"Our teachers and campus leaders are making a measurable difference in student outcomes. LIFT ensures that we put recognition and resources where the results are," she said.
