Building Safety and Strength

The new six-foot wrought-iron fence surrounding Longview High School—complete with electronic security gates and vibrant Lobo Green lighting—provides both protection and presence. It is not just a barrier; it is a beacon of pride for our schools and the families who support them.

These upgrades are part of Longview ISD's comprehensive districtwide safety initiative, which includes:

  • Camera system overhaul: $3 million invested in high-tech cameras across every campus, including monitoring access points from both campus and central offices.

  • Perimeter security gates: New fencing and electronic gates at key entries to create safer, controlled access.

  • Secure access points: New vestibules across all campuses to manage visitor entry safely.

  • Safer walkways: New sidewalks that make it easier and safer for students and families to move around school grounds.

Leadership Focused on Safety

As part of this mission, Benjamin Kemper has been named Chief of District Safety, helping lead the next phase of Longview ISD's security initiatives.

"Our goal is simple—every student, every staff member, every day deserves to feel safe," said Kemper. "These new upgrades show that safety is not just a promise, it is a priority for Longview ISD."

Kemper's appointment underscores the district's dedication to a proactive, people-first approach to school safety—combining the latest technology with community-centered leadership.
