Longview ISD hosted its annual Special Education Track Day on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Lobo Stadium, giving students from across the district a chance to compete, celebrate, and shine in a day built around joy, encouragement, and achievement.
The event featured adapted track and field activities designed to give every participant an opportunity to succeed and have fun. Students took part in races and field events while classmates, staff, and volunteers cheered them on from the sidelines.

The event is one students look forward to each year and has become a special tradition in Longview ISD. More than just a day of competition, Special Education Track Day reflects the district’s commitment to ensuring every student has meaningful opportunities to participate, belong, and be celebrated.
“This day is about more than competition. It is about belonging, encouragement, and creating moments our students will remember long after they leave the stadium,” said Longview ISD Director of Special Programs Kristal Linton.
High school volunteers played an important role throughout the event, helping encourage participants and support activities from start to finish. Teachers, staff, and families also joined in creating a memorable atmosphere for students as they earned recognition for their effort and participation.
Longview ISD is especially thankful for Longview AMBUCS, a wonderful community partner that helped assemble adapted tricycles for students to enjoy during Special Education Track Day. Their generosity and hands-on support helped make the event even more meaningful, giving students another opportunity to participate, have fun, and create unforgettable memories. Partnerships like this reflect the very best of Longview and the shared commitment to supporting every student.

Special Education Track Day is one more example of the way Longview ISD works to create supportive, student-centered experiences that honor the strengths and potential of every child.
