Community Pep Rally

Longview ISD brought families, alumni and neighbors together for its first Community Pep Rally, kicking off Homecoming Week with food, vendor shopping and a celebration of Longview High School students. The event paired opportunities to support student clubs and booster organizations with music, performances, games and team recognitions at Lobo Coliseum.

Before the rally, visitors could purchase food from student club booths in the Longview High School breezeway and shop booster and vendor booths in the Coliseum foyer. The booths gave families a chance to pick up Lobo gear and support student activities before heading inside for the program.

Inside the Coliseum, the Lobo Band, Lobo Cheer, Viewettes and Majorettes helped lead the celebration alongside recognition of the Homecoming court and fall athletic teams. Games, school and alumni shout-outs, and a Grab the Mic Karaoke contest between students invited the community to join the fun.

Students faced off against adults in a spirited Grab the Mic Karaoke contest as cheers, band music and Lobo pride filled Lobo Coliseum during Longview ISDโ€™s first Community Pep Rally on Sept. 14.

The playful competition captured the purpose of the celebration: bringing families, alumni, staff and community members together to show Longview High School students that Lobo Nation stands behind them.

โ€œStudents know when their community shows up for them,โ€ said Longview ISD Superintendent Dr. Marla Sheppard. โ€œSeeing Lobo Nation together; cheering for our teams, supporting our boosters and clubs, and celebrating our spirit teams, reminds our students that their work, talent and leadership matter far beyond the school day.โ€

The Homecoming court and fall athletic teams shared the spotlight with the students who bring energy to Longview High School events throughout the year. The Lobo Band filled Lobo Coliseum with music, while Lobo Cheer, the Viewettes and the Majorettes performed for the crowd. The rally recognized Lady Lobo Volleyball, Lobo Tennis, Lobo Cross Country, Lobo Swim and Lobo Football.

School and alumni shout-outs, student-centered games and the closing school song gave community members opportunities to participate rather than simply watch.

Before the rally, the celebration extended into the Longview High School breezeway and Lobo Coliseum foyer. Food booths helped Longview High School clubs raise money, while booster organizations and product vendors connected with families and sold items supporting student programs. Kona Ice also participated in support of the Lobo Bandโ€™s London performance fund.

โ€œCommunity Relations has wanted to bring this idea to life for years,โ€ said Elizabeth Ross, Longview ISD Community Relations Director. โ€œWe wanted families, alumni and neighbors to experience the same student-centered energy and Lobo pride that fill our convocation and pep rallies; and then turn that energy into meaningful support for the students, clubs and booster organizations that make Longview High School special.โ€

The inaugural rally launched Longview High Schoolโ€™s 2026 Homecoming celebration while creating another way for the community to recognize studentsโ€™ talents, support their organizations and take part in Lobo traditions.
