After months of planning, design work, and permitting, crews begun construction on the future facility adjacent to Longview High School in October of 2025. The project represents one of the district's largest investments in career readiness and workforce development, providing students with expanded opportunities for hands-on learning in a variety of career pathways.
The new 95,000-square-foot facility is designed to serve students pursuing careers in health sciences, engineering, law enforcement, cosmetology, technology, diesel mechanics, robotics, and other high-demand industries. The center will feature specialized labs, modern classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, and industry-focused training environments that mirror real-world workplaces.
District leaders have described the project as a transformational investment that will help students graduate with the skills, certifications, and experiences needed to succeed in college, technical training programs, military service, or the workforce.
At the heart of the facility's design is a central atrium and courtyard intended to serve as a hub for collaboration and innovation. The building's layout was developed through extensive planning between district administrators, educators, architects, and project management teams to ensure the facility meets both current and future workforce needs.
The construction start followed the completion and approval of final design documents and a groundbreaking ceremony held earlier this school year. Community members, district leaders, students, and local officials gathered to celebrate the beginning of a project that will expand educational opportunities for generations of Longview students.
As work progresses, students and staff can expect to see significant activity on the construction site, including foundation work, utility installation, and structural development. The project is funded through the voter-approved 2024 bond package and is expected to become a centerpiece of Longview High School's growing Career & Technical Education program.
Superintendent Dr. Marla Sheppard has emphasized that the new facility reflects the district's vision of ensuring every student has access to meaningful career pathways and hands-on learning experiences. Once completed, the center will provide state-of-the-art learning environments that connect classroom instruction with real-world career opportunities.
The Career & Technical Education Center is anticipated to open in 2027 and will stand as a lasting investment in Longview ISD's mission of preparing students for success beyond graduation. #BuiltByTheBond
Today, we formally launched the Longview ISD Police Department during a packed swearing-in ceremony for Chief Benjamin Kemper, the district’s first Chief of Police. ✅
Chief Kemper, a 1993 Longview High School graduate, stood surrounded by family, district leaders, Board of Trustees members, local first responders, former colleagues, and community partners as he took the oath of office. One of the most meaningful moments came as his wife pinned his badge, marking the beginning of a new chapter in service to the district he once called home as a student.
The Longview ISD Police Department will serve students, staff, families, and campuses with a focus on visibility, professionalism, relationships, and trust.
Its mission is simple and powerful: provide a safe learning environment while developing meaningful relationships that positively impact young people’s lives for years to come.

The Class of 2026 has officially left its mark on the future Career and Technical Education Center. 🏗️💚
Just weeks after seniors signed a steel beam during a special ceremony, that beam was installed last Friday inside the new Career & Technical Education Center.
Earlier this spring, students filled the beam with handwritten messages, names, and memories, creating a piece of Longview High School history that will now live permanently inside the new building.
As construction continues, the signed beam serves as a powerful reminder of the pride, perseverance, and legacy of the Class of 2026.

Kennedi was honored with the prestigious Texas First Congressional Service Award, an annual recognition established by Congressman Nathaniel Moran to celebrate exceptional high school students across Texas’s First Congressional District. The award recognizes juniors and seniors who serve as “unsung heroes” and exemplify the spirit of Texas through extraordinary acts of service, sacrifice, and volunteerism.
Throughout her four years of high school, Kennedi demonstrated an outstanding commitment to serving others by completing more than 1,000 community service hours. Her dedication, leadership, and willingness to give back to her community reflect the true meaning of servant leadership and make her highly deserving of this distinguished honor.
Congratulations to Dawson Jaskiewicz, a freshman at Longview High School, on an incredible season competing in Ultimate High School Bass Fishing!
During his freshman year, Dawson competed in seven tournaments and qualified for the invitational Classic tournament, where he earned a Top 10 finish and scholarship money through his outstanding performance.
