Longview High School senior athletes, band members, Viewette members and cheerleaders signed a construction beam for the Trent Williams Indoor Multipurpose Center leaving their names in Lobo history before graduation.
Although the students are expected to graduate before the facility is complete, the signing gave them a way to become part of what comes next, connecting the seniors who helped shape campus traditions with the students who will carry them forward.
βThis beam represents more than steel and structure,β said Longview High School Principal Shameika Allen. βIt represents the dedication, growth and school pride of our seniors. Each signature connects their story to the future of Longview High School.β
The Trent Williams Indoor Multipurpose Center honors Trent Williams, a 2006 Longview High School graduate whose connection to Longview extends well beyond his NFL career. His support has included free youth football camps, student-athlete heart screenings, shoes for local children and scholarships that help students earn college credit.
βThese seniors have helped carry the traditions that make Longview special,β said Longview athletic director and head football coach John King. βThey may graduate before the Trent Williams Indoor Multipurpose Center opens, but their names will always be part of what we are building for the next generation.β
βWhen our community invests in students, that impact reaches beyond any one graduating class,β said Superintendent Dr. Marla Sheppard. βThis beam signing honors the students who helped bring us to this moment while looking ahead to the opportunities future Lobos will have.β
The Trent Williams Indoor Multipurpose Center is part of Longview ISDβs voter-approved 2024 bond program. Plans include a 120-yard turf field for marching band and athletics, along with training spaces that will support student programs.
The signing was held for participating students and staff. Community members can follow construction through the Longview ISD Bond Updates page.
