Lobo Families,
Longview ISD is now accepting referrals for Gifted & Talented (G/T) services for students in grades 6–8. If you believe your student would benefit from advanced learning opportunities, we invite you to submit a referral during the window below:
📅 Referral Window: December 8–December 19
🗓 Deadline: Friday, December 19
Anyone may refer a student — including parents, teachers, and community members. Referrals can be completed online or by requesting a paper form from your school counselor.
Referral Forms:
• English
• Español
What happens after a referral?
Referred students will take part in the G/T identification process, which includes:
• Student achievement data
• i-Ready diagnostic and CogAT assessments
Families will receive testing details ahead of time.
Longview ISD’s G/T program is designed for students who demonstrate advanced abilities, creativity, leadership, or exceptional academic potential. Our goal is to support their unique learning needs and challenge them in meaningful ways.
If you have questions, please contact Dr. Catina Love, District Success & Testing Coordinator, or reach out to your campus counselor.
Attention Foster Families!!
Longview ISD is launching a Holiday Food Drive Challenge to support our students and families in need this season. The competition begins immediately and will run through December 17th.
How the Challenge Works
Each campus will collect non-perishable food items throughout the drive.
To ensure every campus has an equal opportunity to win, results will be measured using a per-capita format. This means that the food collected at the campus will be divided by the number of students at each campus to ensure all campuses have an equal chance at the prizes.
The campus with the highest per-capita collection rate will win:
An 85-inch Smartboard, and
A Gaming Party for the students on that campus.

Tonight—Monday, December 8—from 6:31 to 8:01 p.m., Longview First Assembly will be hosting their YoungLife Christmas Club!
Parents are invited to join us for dinner and to learn more about this year’s Summer Camp opportunities.
We hope to see you there!

Thanks to this generous award, all 6th and 7th grade students—approximately 550 learners—will have the opportunity to visit the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, where they will engage in meaningful learning experiences that support our curriculum and broaden their understanding of history and human rights.
Congratulations to Ms. Thomas, and thank you to the LISD Foundation for supporting impactful educational opportunities for our students!

As we wrap up the semester, our Dragons will be taking Semester Exams and completing their i-Ready Middle-of-Year (MOY) assessments in Reading and Math. These tests help us measure growth, guide instruction, and ensure every student gets the support they need to be successful.
