to me
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to inform you that 7th and 8th Grade Course Selections for the upcoming school year will open in Skyward today, March 2, 2026 and will close on March 16, 2026.
During this time, you and your student will work together to select the classes they would like to take next school year. This is an important opportunity to carefully review course options and make thoughtful decisions that support your child’s academic goals and interests.
Attached to this email is a step-by-step guide to assist you with the course selection process. Please review the guide carefully to ensure selections are completed accurately before the deadline. All course selections must be submitted by March 16, 2026. After this date, the selection window will close.
If course selections are not submitted by the March 16 deadline, the counseling team will select elective courses for the 2026–2027 school year for your student due to scheduling timelines, staffing allocations, and limited course availability. Late submissions cannot be guaranteed specific elective placements.
Please understand that once schedules are finalized and school begins, course selections will not be changed. Changes will not be made at the start of school or during the second semester.
Additionally:
Requests for teacher changes will not be granted.
Students will not be allowed to change their schedule to be placed in a class with friends.
For this reason, we strongly encourage families to carefully review selections before submitting them. Thank you for your partnership and support as we prepare for a smooth and successful school year.
Best regards,

Tomorrow, all FMS students will take their STAAR Reading Simulation test. We will conduct this assessment using official STAAR testing procedures, as it is more formal than our common campus assessments.
Please note the following important information:
-Any students who normally report to the high school campus must report to Foster Middle School tomorrow.
-Our campus will be closed to visitors and shut down for testing.
-Please make every effort to ensure your child arrives on time and remains at school for the entire day.
-Dress code will be strictly enforced. Blankets, pillows, Crocs, slides, and stuffed animals will not be permitted.
We ask that you emphasize the importance of this assessment with your child. The data from this simulation will help us determine any additional needs and supports for students during the remainder of the school year.
On Thursday, we will follow the same structured testing schedule for Science. Eighth grade students will take their STAAR Science Simulation, while sixth and seventh grade students will complete their middle-of-year exam.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in helping our students succeed.
UIL students — we didn’t forget about YOU!
If you were competing in UIL on Friday, you’ll have your chance to interview for Round 1 of The Amazing Shake on Monday during Leadership!
📍 You’ll be assigned a specific interview location. Be sure to check the postings in:
The cafeteria
The rotunda
Your grade-level hallway
Show up ready. Show up confident. Show up AMAZING. 💼✨
See you Monday!
