As we wrap up the semester, our Dragons will be taking Semester Exams and completing their i-Ready Middle-of-Year (MOY) assessments in Reading and Math. These tests help us measure growth, guide instruction, and ensure every student gets the support they need to be successful.

Foster Middle School’s Select Choir has been invited to perform at the Belcher Center in a sold-out show! 🙌✨
Our talented students will take the stage on December 5th from 6:15–6:50 PM. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, passion, and all the hard work they’ve put in under the amazing direction of Mrs. Reagans.

For the first time in Foster history, we have a student who has advanced to the State LDE contest! Miley Orozco is the AREA CHAMPION in Greenhand Spanish Creed Speaking. She will now compete at Sam Houston State University as one of the Top 24 contestants in this event. Her competition will range from schools all across the state of Texas. Please congratulate her when you get the chance!
Additionally, we had three other FFA members compete yesterday. Although we did not get the results we wanted, these students have been working INCREDIBLY HARD to get to this point and I couldn’t be more proud. It’s tough competition at Area, with the competition being the Top 3 teams in each event from Longview District, Mineola District, Paris District, and Daingerfield District - basically all of North East/East Texas.

Social Studies Testing – Nov. 19:
• 8th grade will have a full campus shutdown. All students should report to FMS.
• 6th and 7th grades will take their Social Studies assessment during their regular class periods. They will adhere to their regular schedules.

They are especially in need of:

Want to help your student grow academically? Encourage them to log in to iReady through ClassLink and work in their personalized learning path for Reading and Math.
Students should complete 30 minutes in each subject each week to stay on track.

FMS will continue administering the second round of common assessments next week. Only Math and Social Studies remain, as Reading and Science have already been completed.
Updated Testing Schedule:
• Nov. 18 – Math
• Nov. 19 – Social Studies
On Tuesday, Nov. 18, ALL students MUST report to Foster Middle School in the morning for the Math assessment, regardless of their usual first-period location. Please ensure your student arrives on time, gets plenty of rest, and eats breakfast. A free breakfast is available beginning at 7:30 AM.

• 8th grade will have a full campus shutdown on both Nov. 18 and Nov. 19.
• 6th and 7th grades will shut down on Nov. 18 for Math, and will take the Social Studies assessment during their regular class periods on Nov. 19.

FMS will be administering the second round of common assessments this week and next. On Tuesday, November 11th, all students will take CA #2 for ELAR, which means all students should report to Foster Middle School for 1st period instead of going to the high school. Testing will begin around 8:15 AM, so please ensure your student arrives on time, gets plenty of rest the night before, and eats breakfast. A free and nutritious breakfast is available in the cafeteria beginning at 7:30 AM each morning.
Testing Schedule:
• Nov. 11 – ELA
• Nov. 12 – Science
• Nov. 18 – Math
• Nov. 19 – Social Studies
8th grade will have a complete campus shutdown for all testing days (Nov. 11, 12, 18, and 19). 6th and 7th grades will shut down on Nov. 11 and 18, but will take Science and Social Studies assessments during their regular class periods.
