Dear Parents and 8th Grade Students,
As part of our college and career readiness efforts, all 8th grade students are asked to complete an online career interest test to help them begin thinking about future career interests and appropriate high school career pathways.
This assessment will be especially helpful as LHS school counselors will be on campus February 2–3 to speak with students about selecting courses for the upcoming school year.
📌 Career Assessment Details
Website: https://www.careerexplorer.com
Assessment: FREE Career Assessment
Time Required: Approximately 30 minutes
Purpose:
To help students explore possible careers
To provide insight into strengths, interests, and personality traits
To support informed decisions when choosing a high school career pathway
🧭 Directions for Students
Go to https://www.careerexplorer.com
Click on “Take FREE Assessment.”
Create an account using an email address (students may use a personal or parent email).
Complete the assessment in one sitting if possible.
Review your results once the assessment is finished.
👨👩👧 Directions for Parents
Please encourage your student to take their time and answer honestly.
Discuss the results together once the assessment is complete.
The results are meant to guide conversation and exploration — not to lock students into a career.
📘 LHS Course Selection Guide – Important Information
The LHS Course Selection Guide will be sent home with students on January 23, 2026.
Each student will receive ONE copy only.
We will not receive any additional or extra copies.
Please be sure to review the guide carefully and keep it in a safe place, as it will be used during the course selection process.
📅 Important Reminder
Students should complete the career assessment before February 1, so they are prepared for discussions with high school counselors regarding course selection and career pathways.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students plan for their future.
Best regards,
Dr. Karmen Lacy
